Bone Broth

Bone broth is nourishing, filling, and delicious! I love to sip bone broth on a cold day. And if I’m feeling spunky, I’ll blend it with a teaspoon of salted ghee for a broth latte :)

What to source:

3-4 pounds pastured chicken bones or grass-fed beef bones

filtered water, just enough to cover the bones

2 onions, chopped

4 carrots, chopped

4 celery stalks, chopped

whole head of garlic, chopped

2 1-inch chunks of ginger root

1 tablespoon redmond sea salt

1 tablespoon apple cider vinegar

1 bunch parsley

What to do:

1. Add all ingredients except the parsley to a large stockpot or a crockpot.

2. If using a stockpot, bring to a boil, then gradually reduce heat to low. Allow to simmer for nearly 24 hours.

3. About 5 minutes before finishing, add the parsley to the broth & let it wilt. Strain into large bowl and store in fridge.

4. Use as a soup base or better yet, as a protein-rich, gut-healing, mid-morning beverage :)
