Lab testing, used with intention.
I use labs to establish a clear baseline, guide decisions, and understand how your body is functioning beneath the surface.
How I Use Lab Testing
Most people are not lacking effort. They are lacking clarity.
Functional lab testing provides objective insight into how your body is functioning so we can make informed, precise decisions instead of relying on guesswork.
Lab testing is a tool.
It does not replace the foundations of health, and it is not the starting point for every decision.
In my work, testing is used to:
• Establish a clear physiological baseline
• Identify patterns that are not obvious from symptoms alone
• Guide targeted decisions around nutrition and lifestyle
• Track meaningful progress over time
The goal is always clarity and direction, not complexity.
Baseline Lab Testing
I recommend baseline labs for every client to give us a clear picture of how your body is responding to your current lifestyle and where support is needed. These biomarkers are directly influenced by daily habits, offering a real-time view of how your body is functioning.
These categories may look familiar, but we assess them using a broader set of markers and interpret them through a functional lens, with tighter reference ranges to identify patterns that are often missed.

Chronic, low-grade inflammation influences energy, recovery, immune activity, and long-term health patterns. These markers help us understand:
• overall inflammatory load (systemic, vascular, cellular)
• how your body is responding to stress and environment
• whether inflammation may be contributing to current symptoms -
Cardiovascular markers reflect more than heart health. They provide insight into metabolic function, inflammation, and long-term resilience. We use these to assess:
• lipid balance and transport
• inflammatory contribution to cardiovascular strain
• broader metabolic health patterns -
Blood sugar regulation plays a central role in energy, hormones, and inflammation. These markers help us understand:
• stability of energy production
• patterns of dysregulation that may not be obvious day to day
• how the body is utilizing and storing fuel -
The thyroid influences metabolism, energy, and system-wide regulation. We are looking at:
• all 8 biomarkers related to thyroid function, hormone production, and conversion
• signaling related to energy use
• patterns that may indicate under- or over-function -
The liver is central to detoxification, hormone processing, and nutrient metabolism. These markers help us assess:
• metabolic load
• detoxification capacity
• how efficiently the body is processing internal and external inputs -
Kidney markers reflect hydration status, mineral balance, and filtration. We use these to understand:
• fluid and electrolyte balance
• filtration efficiency
• overall internal stability
-
Used when digestive symptoms, inflammation, or immune patterns suggest deeper imbalance. I use the Gut Zoomer from Vibrant Wellness to assess the gut microbiome, digestive function, and markers of inflammation and intestinal integrity.
Provides insight into:
• microbial balance, diversity, and overall ecosystem function
• digestive capacity, including breakdown and absorption of nutrients
• inflammatory activity within the gut
• markers related to intestinal integrity and barrier function
• the presence of pathogenic or opportunistic organisms -
Assesses intracellular nutrient status, offering a clearer picture of what the body is actually using. I use the Nutrient Zoomer from Vibrant Wellness to evaluate how effectively nutrients are being utilized at the cellular level.
Helps identify:
• intracellular nutrient status and how well nutrients are being utilized at the cellular level
• specific deficiencies that may be limiting energy production, repair, detoxification, regulation, and metabolic function
• where targeted repletion can support more efficient and stable physiological function -
Used when there is concern for environmental exposure to mold, heavy metals, and chemicals. I use the Toxin Zoomer from Vibrant Wellness to assess overall toxic burden and how the body is processing and eliminating these compounds.
Provides insight into:
• accumulated toxic burden and potential sources of exposure
• how effectively the body is processing and eliminating toxins
• where detoxification pathways may be limited or under strain -
Used when symptoms suggest more complex endocrine or regulatory patterns. I use the Hormone Zoomer from Vibrant Wellness, a four-point urine analysis, to assess hormone signaling, stress response, and daily rhythm patterns.
Can help clarify:
• hormone signaling patterns and how effectively hormones are being produced, converted, and utilized
• how the body is responding to and adapting to stress over time
• daily rhythm patterns, including how cortisol and other hormones rise and fall throughout the day
Targeted Lab Testing
Targeted lab testing may be used when it adds meaningful clarity or helps guide more specific decisions. Not everyone needs deeper testing, and when it is used, it is done intentionally.
How to Access Testing
Lab testing is available in two ways: as part of private nutrition coaching, which includes full interpretation, strategy, and ongoing support, or as a standalone option for those who want targeted insight and clear direction without ongoing accountability.
If you are unsure where to start, we can decide together what would be most useful based on your goals and where you are currently.
Frequently Asked Questions
-
Revived Roots offers baseline and targeted lab testing to help better understand how the body is functioning. Baseline labs may assess inflammation, cardiovascular markers, blood sugar regulation, thyroid function, liver function, and kidney function. Targeted testing may include stool testing, micronutrient testing, toxin testing, and hormone testing.
-
Baseline testing gives us a broad view of core physiological markers and how your body is responding to your current lifestyle. Targeted testing is used when deeper insight is needed, such as gut health, nutrient status, toxic burden, or hormone patterns.
-
I commonly use Vibrant Wellness panels, including the Gut Zoomer, Nutrient Zoomer, Total Tox, and Hormone Zoomer when they are clinically appropriate.
-
Lab ordering availability depends on your location. At this time, lab ordering through Revived Roots is available for clients located in Texas, Colorado, Michigan, Arizona, California, Virginia, and any other states where ordering is legally permitted under my scope and current regulations.
-
Yes. Nutrition coaching is available nationwide. If you live in a state where I am not able to directly order labs, we can discuss other options, such as using recent labs from your physician or identifying labs you may request through a local provider.
-
No. Lab testing and lab interpretation are available both within private coaching and as standalone services. For individuals wanting targeted insight and professional interpretation without ongoing coaching, standalone lab review options are available depending on your goals, location, and the type of testing being considered.
-
Baseline labs are strongly recommended for most clients because they provide helpful context. Targeted labs are used more selectively when they are likely to change the direction of care.
-
All labs run by Revived Roots are paid out of pocket. Some conventional bloodwork may be eligible for insurance coverage if ordered through your physician, depending on your plan and provider.
-
Lab testing is often used to establish a clearer baseline and guide decision-making. This may include bloodwork, stool testing, micronutrient testing, toxin testing, hormone testing, or other targeted panels depending on your needs, goals, and location. Although encouraged and supportive, labs are not required.
-
Yes. Recent labs can often be reviewed as part of your care. If additional markers are needed, we can discuss what would be most useful based on your goals and current symptoms.
-
No. Lab testing through Revived Roots is used for nutrition assessment, education, and personalized health strategy. Diagnosis and medical treatment remain within the scope of your physician or licensed medical provider.
-
Results are reviewed in context with your symptoms, history, goals, and current habits. You receive interpretation, education, and a clear plan for next steps rather than a list of isolated markers.
